Five Months
March 05, 2012
It’s been a little bit of a rough month here and there, Seth. You cut your first teeth this month while Daddy was away on business (thanks, Mommy). You had your first cold this month on arriving back from San Diego. And most of all, we started to work on falling asleep on a schedule at night this month. Once Daddy and Mommy got things figured out, you stopped crying for 45 minutes, and now you go right to sleep. It’s not easy for any of us, but it’s good for everyone.
Fortunately, you’ve also had lots of fun this month, too. You got your first birthday party invite from cousin Grace, who flew in for a long visit from England. You played and played at the Little Gym. Too bad you’re not big enough for cake yet. You got to try eating rice cereal this month, but it turns out you’re not quite old enough for that, either, leading to a few unhappy evenings.
You’re sitting up almost all by yourself, and you can even sit between Mommy and Daddy, like you did when we had a very late dinner at Village Inn, after seeing all the amazing ice sculptures in Breckenridge.
Seth, we’re pretty sure you’re going to be a little character, and it’s so much fun to see that emerging as you grow. You give us these big smiles with a wide open mouth when you see us, and then hide in the shoulder of whoever is holding you. You even imitated Mommy giving you raspberries…our favorite line now is “Seth’s turn” as we coax you to copy us in something.
We couldn’t ask for a greater blessing than you, little man. With each passing day, you grow and learn. We’re starting to baby-proof the house, putting protections in place to make sure that you’re safe from the things you don’t understand yet. Just the same, we’re praying for wisdom that we can protect you from the things we can as we teach you to deal with life on your own. Each day and each month will bring new challenges, but each day and each month will bring new blessings and joy, also.
We love you so very much.
