A Visual Concordance

I’ve been working with the text of the NIV over the past few weeks, resulting in the visualizations below. The first set give a visual indication of how many times each word is mentioned in each book in the Bible.

The second set of diagrams breaks out the words by book, pointing to each reference. The color scheme is the same as the previous diagrams. Click on each one to make them bigger – faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love (really, it’s big, so it will take a while to load).

These are fairly basic. Over time, I’m going to work on adding a stemmer and some other language processing features, to do things like match up loved and loves with love, which the code doesn’t do right now. Also, these are based on NIV, so ESV or another translation might result in slightly different diagrams.
